About six years ago, Yusif had back surgery. The recovery was long and painful, and he was confined to bed. As he lay in bed in Guba, a city in northern Azerbaijan, he thought a lot about his life.
He had grown up in a Muslim culture, but he began to question all that he knew. As he was searching for truth, he found the New Testament on the internet and started reading it. A great comfort, joy and peace came to his heart. He had never known such joy and comfort. He begged God,
“Heal me so that I may stand up and I will dedicate my whole life to You. I will learn about You and believe in You.”
God did heal him. Yusif got out of bed and was able to start work again!
One day, he came across a series of social media posts from Azerbaijani believers. Because he had loved reading the New Testament online, he wanted a physical copy to read as well. He connected with the believers via social media and requested one.
When Kamil visited and presented him with a New Testament, Yusif told him, “I already believe in Jesus Christ.” So Kamil discipled Yusif, they prayed together, and he taught him how to follow Jesus. Soon, Yusif’s family also began to follow Jesus, and now they faithfully attend a small church in their region.

- Pray protection for Azerbaijani believers as they share their faith.
- Pray for fellowships of believing Azeris to emerge in the many cities and towns with no church.
