Pray for Cameroon

Musa comes from a Muslim family, but when his family needed medical care they went to a Christian hospital. When his son was born the Christian midwives took good care of his wife. The hospital even cared for a cousin who needed medicine and counselling for HIV.

60% of the population of Cameroon is Christian. Islam is the second largest religion in Cameroon, with most Muslims living in the northern part of the country.

Musa felt lucky to have a medical center within reach. In Cameroon there are less than 5 nurses for every 10,000 people and less than half that number of doctors. Health care centres offered by faith-based organizations provide a necessary service to all the people in the region. In fact, faith-based organizations provide over 40% of the health care services in Cameroon.

Musa recognised the corruption that made it impossible to get healthcare in state facilities. He was impressed by the work of the nurses at the Christian hospital and about their faith that motivated them to offer their service.

Over many months, Musa got to know the chaplain at the hospital and he was able to watch the Jesus film. Eventually, he gave his life to Christ.

How to Pray

  • Pray for medical charities who are often serving in isolated areas. Pray that they would have the resources they need to provide care for the communities around them.
  • Pray for the people of Cameroon to work together to improve access to healthcare and other services necessary for their nation to thrive.
  • Pray for Muslims in Cameroon to encounter Jesus through their experiences in Christian health centers and interaction with the workers.
